Formed in 2004, the School of Engineering is a small learning community on the campus of Hawthorne High School. Formerly known as the Hawthorne Engineering Academy, we are a California Partnership Academy through the California Department of Education.
Currently we are comprised of 190 students and 10 faculty members. We have students from all walks of life, multiple ethnic and religious backgrounds, and varied levels of educational proficiency. We are growing next year to over 350 students!
We are more than a social organization. We have a rigorous educational program built on the Project Lead the Way curriculum, a nationally recognized leader in Engineering curriculum at the high school level. We were recognized as one of 15 model schools of all the Project Lead the Way schools in the 2008 school year, and continue to operate at the same high level that garnered this award.
We also are the home of the award winning Hawthorne Robotics team - Team 207 - the MetalCrafters. Winner of the Los Angeles F.I.R.S.T robotics competition last year. Please click on the following link to view their website:
