Hello Cougar Family,

My journey in education began at Cerritos Junior College. Since I would regularly help my friends with their math classes, I was encouraged to become a math teacher. I transferred to Cal State Dominguez Hills and majored in Math Education. After graduation, I applied and was accepted to grad school. I would later earn a Master’s in Education and my teaching credential from UCLA. Following the footsteps of my father, I became a Math Teacher.

I spent the first 5 years of my career teaching Math for a charter school in Watts, which was challenging and rewarding at the same time. It was challenging to witness the struggles of some students inside and outside the classroom. The rewarding part was knowing that I did my best to make a difference in my students, academically, and personally.

After leaving the charter I was able to secure a teaching position at Leuzinger High School. At Leuzinger I was able to teach a variety of classes and take on various leadership roles. Those leadership roles and experiences have prepared me for my current assignment.

Now in my 14^th year in education and 9^th year in Centinela Valley Union High School District, I am proud to be part of the Cougar Family. As one of the Associate Principals at Hawthorne High I plan to do my part to help support our schools Mission and Vision for all students. I hope to instill a sound work ethic in all the students and staff here. I believe that Hawthorne is an amazing school with great students, helpful staff, and supportive parents. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve Hawthorne High for years to come.

Querida familia Cougar,

Mi trayectoria en la educación comenzó en Cerritos Junior College. Dado que solía ayudar a mis amigos con sus clases de matemáticas, me animaron a convertirme en profesor de matemáticas. Me transferí a Cal State Dominguez Hills y me especialicé en Educación Matemática. Después de graduarme, apliqué y me aceptaron en la escuela de posgrado. Más tarde obtendría una Maestría en Educación y mi credencial de maestro de UCLA. Siguiendo los pasos de mi padre, me convertí en profesor de matemáticas.

Pasé los primeros 5 años de mi carrera enseñando matemáticas para una escuela autónoma en Watts, lo cual fue desafiante y gratificante al mismo tiempo. Fue un desafío presenciar las luchas de algunos estudiantes dentro y fuera del aula. La parte gratificante fue saber que hice todo lo posible para marcar la diferencia en mis estudiantes, académica y personalmente.

Después de dejar la escuela, pude asegurar un puesto de profesor en Leuzinger High School. En Leuzinger pude dar una variedad de clases y asumir varios roles de liderazgo. Esos roles y experiencias de liderazgo me han preparado para mi asignación actual.

Ahora en mi 14 años en educación y 9 años en el Distrito de Escuelas Secundarias Centinela Valley Union, me enorgullece ser parte de la Familia Cougar. Como uno de los directores adjuntos de Hawthorne High, planeo hacer mi parte para ayudar a apoyar la misión y la visión de nuestra escuela para todos los estudiantes. Espero inculcar una ética de trabajo sólida en todos los estudiantes y el personal aquí. Creo que Hawthorne es una escuela increíble con excelentes estudiantes, personal servicial y padres solidarios. Estoy agradecido por esta oportunidad de servir a Hawthorne High en los próximos años.
