Welcome to Hawthorne Athletics, Home of the Courageous Cougars, Where Every Cougar LEAPS!

Hawthorne HS believes that participation in Athletics provides students a meaningful opportunity to enrich their experience in high school and learn core values in teamwork, individual achievement, and sportsmanship.  We encourage students to play multiple sports to enhance their time at HHS.  As a part of Cougar Athletics, student-athletes will learn the value of hard work, responsibility, discipline, and perseverance.  Athletics also instills pride in the student, as well as campus culture.  Cougar student athletes represent the pillars of Leadership, Empathy, Achievement, Preparation, and Safety.

In order to participate in Athletics, student-athletes must maintain a 2.0 minimum Grade Point Average and pass at least 20 units each grading period.  Eligibility is determined by grades at the following intervals: Quarter 1, Semester 1, Quarter 3, and Semester 2.

Before students can participate in any Athletic program, including practice, students MUST complete an Athletic Clearance Registration and have a valid Preparticipation Physical Examination (within the last 365 days) on file with the Athletic Director.
