Welcome dancers!

My name is Ms. Villaverde and I am the dance teacher. I am very excited to be teaching at Hawthorne High School and I can't wait to get to know all of you and your many talents.

A little about me:
I started dancing at 5 years old. I was fortunate that my high school had a dance program and I was able to be a part of the dance company. I continued my education in dance after high school by majoring in dance, which was one of the best experiences. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from UC Irvine. Through the program, I was fortunate to choreograph, perform, as well as dance on the Etude Dance Ensemble dance company with the renowned Donald McKayle. After graduating from UCI, I moved to New York City to pursue a professional dance career. I was a dancer in Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, where we performed around the U.S. Furthermore, I spent a year living in Mexico learning Spanish and learning Cuban Salsa. I love learning new styles of dance and continue to expand my horizons. I dance modern, jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap, Mexican Folk dance, Cuban salsa and am currently learning Capoeira and acro-yoga. I am also a Pilates instructor and enjoy yoga. I am looking forward to teaching many styles of dance.

Teaching dance is my passion and I can't wait to share it with you all!
