Webquest Project:  Notorious People, Crimes, and Cases


Found below is a list of notorious people, cases, or crimes.

Your assignment is to use the internet to locate four (4) different appropriate news articles and collect information about this notorious person, case, or crime in order to make a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation to the class on Friday, January 20, 2012.

NOTE: You cannot use websites like wikipedia, About.com, truTV.com, biography.com, etc. as one of your four sources.  The articles you use must be NEWS ARTICLES.

 

You must work in a group of two people maximum.

No two groups can share the same topic in the same class.

-          Use Question 2h of the ARQ (yellow sheet) to help you present the information here.

Case Updates:  What has happened since the original court case took place?  What has happened to the suspect(s) in the case?

-          Use Questions 4 & 5 of the ARQ (yellow sheet)

-          What questions did you have that your group could not find the answer to as you were doing your research?

-          Minimum of 3 questions.

Works Cited  (Question 1 of the ARQ)

For each article you used, you must list:

-          Name of the Article

-          Author

-          Date of Publication

-          Organization that published the article

-          URL to article (the link must work)

 You must include a minimum of 2 different direct quotes from each of your 4 articles throughout your PowerPoint presentation.  You must prove you got your information from your chosen news articles.

By the end of class today (Tuesday, January 17, 2012), you must send an email to your teacher with the following information:

-          the first and last names of BOTH people in your group

-          the approved topic you chose from the list

-          the four complete URL links to the articles where you and your group mate obtained all your information.

Your group’s PowerPoint presentation must be e-mailed to your teacher by the end of the class period on Thursday, January 19, 2012!  Assignments e-mailed after the bell rings to end your class period that day will be considered late.
