WT Student-Led Enterprise
Wood Tech Enterprise is a Student Led Enterprise at Hawthorne High School in the Centinela Valley Union High School District. This program provides an opportunity for work experience through paid internships available to students of the Wood Technology Pathway and funded by the South Bay Workforce Investment Board.
We utilize the tools and technologies of the Wood Tech lab to provide students authentic real and relevant work experience taking on large scale projects outside the scope of what they are working on in the classroom. In addition to work based learning experiences and improved technical skills, this program provides students with project management, leadership, and employability skills which will contribute to their future success.
Wood Tech Enterprise Interns gain experience through their participation in every aspect of the design and construction of large-scale professional level projects.
Student interns work directly with clients to establish their needs, research, design, refine, and propose solutions. Working closely with the Wood Tech Pathway Coordinator and other mentors from the building and construction trades, use the same processes and tools as industry to bring these projects to life.
