She was the band director at Leuzinger High School from 2004-2008, where she started the competitive marching band and drumline program. Looking for a different type of music program, Dr. Bowman transferred to Lawndale High School in Fall of 2008, teaching all Rock Band Classes and a Jazz Band.  Since her arrival at Lawndale High School, she has taught every part of the music program from Commercial Music, Choir, Advanced and Beginning Band, Music Appreciation, Stage Band, Ukulele, Piano, Digital Music Production, and Commercial Music Theory.

Dr. Bowman studied piano privately with Dr. Konstantin Sirounian (former pupil of Aram Khachaturian), Delores Stevens, and Myrna Mascardo. She studied ukulele with Hawaiian music event producer and ukulele musician Mitch Chang, and was a featured teacher in CTA Magazine's May/June 2017 issue for pioneering the High School Ukulele Program in California. Her ukulele program was also featured in the Images of America Series, "Hawaiians in Los Angeles" by Arcadia Publishing in 2012. She is also a former staff member of the National Pacific Islander Educators Network (NPIEN) and continues to advocate for Pacific Islanders in Education and teach Ukulele workshops at conferences. Dr. Bowman also advises Music Education credential candidates at MSMU and is an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma-California, Lambda Chapter- a professional women educator's organization. Her dissertation, "Secondary School Music Teacher Perceptions of Music Technology Integration During a Pandemic," focuses on the need for Music Teachers to be trained on Educational Technology and Music Technology for successfully integrating and teaching music online.

Outside of school, Dr. Bowman plays piano and ukulele professionally. She also teaches piano, ukulele, and as a member of ASCAP as a writer and publisher, she arranges ukulele music for intermediate level players, participates in music education consulting, and offers professional development training for music technology and ukulele.
