Chemistry is a one-year course that (1) satisfies the Centinela Valley physical science graduation requirement and (2) counts as one year of laboratory science for the purposes of being eligible for admission to the University of California system. (Many non-UC four-year universities have eligibility requirements similar to those the UC system.)Chemistry is the study of the composition of matter and the changes that matter goes through. It's not just about blowing things up. Since everything you can touch is made of some kind of matter, and everything changes over time, chemistry helps us understand almost everything in life.

The Screen Questions, which will be mandatory for everyone, will include both ch 5 AND ch 25 (nuclear chemistry) questions. For instance, be ready to compare and contrast radioactive decay, nuclear fission, and nuclear fusion.
