SME PRIME ALCOA Partnership
Here at Hawthorne High School we are proud to announce a new partnership within our PRIME Program. Alcoa Inc. through the Alcoa Foundation has made a significant investment with the SME Education Foundation to support programs like ours that have a focus on manufacturing. This partnership will bring a formal joint venture between industry and education, by offering our students a direct link to the workforce with field trips to Alcoa manufacturing plants, guest industry speakers, mentorships, job shadowing and potential internships.
We are currently in a pilot phase with Alcoa Fastener Systems in Carson, CA. This phase will help determine how each we will be working together to benefit both the students at Hawthorne High School and Alcoa Inc.

Alcoa Foundation is one of the largest corporate foundations in the
U.S. Founded 60 years ago, Alcoa Foundation has invested more
than $550 million since 1952. In 2011, Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation
contributed $38 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the world,
focusing on the environment and education. Through this work, Alcoa
Foundation is building innovative partnerships, engaging its people to
improve the environment and educating tomorrow’s leaders. Alcoa is
supporting the SME Education Foundation’s efforts focused on PRIME®.
With Alcoa’s generosity, we will be able to support the growth of two
PRIME® programs through 2014.
